Plinko is one of the Drem Originals, the collection Drem lists at 99% RTP. A ball drops from the top of a triangle of pegs, bounces left or right at each row and lands in a slot with a multiplier.

How to play Plinko

  1. Choose your stake.
  2. Where the game offers them, choose the number of rows and a risk level.
  3. Drop the ball.
  4. You are paid your stake times the multiplier of the slot it lands in.

Why the middle is common and the edges are rare

At every peg the ball goes left or right with equal chance. To reach an edge slot it has to go the same way every single time; to reach the middle it only needs a rough balance. With eight rows there are 256 possible paths:

SlotPaths that reach itChance
Far edge10.4%
One from the edge83.1%
Two from the edge2810.9%
Next to centre5621.9%
Centre7027.3%

That is why the centre slots carry the small multipliers — often below 1x — and the edges carry the large ones.

Rows and risk

  • More rows make the edges rarer still, and the top multipliers larger.
  • A higher risk level lowers the centre payouts and raises the edge payouts.
  • Neither changes the long-run return. They change how bumpy the ride is.

A note on turnover

Drem treats 99% RTP games such as Plinko differently for the Refer & Earn commission: only one third of the base turnover counts. It still counts in full towards your own VIP level.

More Originals: Mines and Aviator.
