Odds, Multipliers and RTP Explained in Plain English
On this page
Three numbers appear all over a gaming lobby: odds, multipliers and RTP. They are closely related, and once you can read them you can compare any two bets — a cricket market, a prediction, a round of Aviator — on the same terms.
Decimal odds
The Drem sportsbook shows decimal odds. The number is your total return for every rupee staked, including the stake. ₹100 at 1.31 returns ₹131; ₹100 at 3.20 returns ₹320.
Multipliers
A multiplier is the same thing under another name. Cashing out of a crash game at 2.00x, or winning a prediction priced at 2.43x, pays your stake times that number.
The break-even percentage
Here is the one calculation worth learning: 1 ÷ the number. It tells you how often you need to win for the bet to break even.
| Odds or multiplier | You must win more than |
|---|---|
| 1.25 | 80% |
| 1.50 | 66.7% |
| 2.00 | 50% |
| 3.00 | 33.3% |
| 5.00 | 20% |
| 10.00 | 10% |
If you believe an outcome happens more often than its break-even percentage, the price is in your favour. If not, it is not — however large the payout looks.
What RTP means
RTP stands for return to player. It is the share of all money staked on a game that is paid back as winnings over a very large number of rounds. A game at 99% RTP returns, on average, ₹99 of every ₹100 staked; the remaining ₹1 is the house edge.
What RTP does not mean
- It is not a promise for your session. Over 50 rounds, results swing far above and below the average.
- It does not make a game “due”. Each round is independent.
- It is not changed by your settings. Choosing more mines or a higher risk level changes the swings, not the return.
Putting it together
A high RTP stretches a budget further: at 99%, ₹1,000 of total stakes costs about ₹10 on average, where a game at 95% would cost about ₹50. That is why Drem draws attention to its Originals, which it lists at 99% RTP. It is still a cost — which is the point of setting a budget first. Our responsible gaming page covers how.
